AC : The current whose direction changes periodically with time is called an alternating current (AC).

Here T (periodic time ) is the time taken by the current to complete one cycle . It is the same as the time taken by the rotating coil in the AC genertor to complete one rotation
`f = (1)/(T) ` gives frequency of AC . It is the same as the frequency of rotation of the coil in the AC generator .
AC voltage of 220 V and frequency 50Hz is used for domestic purpose in India.
So , in India , the direction of AC changes 100 times in 1 second or AC change direction after every `(1)/(100)` second .
A refrigerator , mixer , electric iron , fan etc work on AC.
