Explain the experimental setup used to study photoelectric effect with a neat labelled diagram.

The experimental setup consists of photosensitive cathode and anode connected to a high tension battery through a micro ammeter. Both cathode and anode are sealed inside an evacuated glass bulb as shown in fig. C - Cathode (emitter), A - Anode (collector) G- Evacuated glass bulb .. The radiation of suitable frequency is allowed to fall on the cathode through the side tube fitted with quartz window, cathode emits photoelectrons. These emitted electrons move towards anode. Therefore, photoelectric current flows through circuit which is recorded by a micro ammeter.
