In large level terrains, the water harvesting structures mainly used are crescentshaped earthen embarkments or low, straight concrete and rubble made check dams built across gullies flooded with water during rainy season.
During seasonal monsoon, ponds get filled behind these structures, but most of these structures cannot hold water throughout the year.
