A pure capacitor of capacitive reactance...

A pure capacitor of capacitive reactance of 10`Omega` is connected to an A.C. source. If the frequency of a source is doubled, the capacitive reactance will be ....... `Omega`.

A

0.5

B

`1.0`

C

`5.0`

D

`10`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
C

Capactive reactance ,
`X_C=1/(2pifC)`
`therefore X_C prop 1/f`
Now if the frequency is doubled , `X_C` becomes half
`therefore X._C =1/2xxX_C =10/2 " " therefore X._C = 5Omega`
