The oxidation state of nickel in `[NiCl_(4)]^(2-)` is `+2` The outer electronic configuration of nickel `(+2)` is `3d 45^(@)`

When weak ligand `Cl` is approaching towards central metal ion, one 4s and three 4p orbitals hybridised to yield four SP hybrid orbitals pointing towards the four corners of tetraltedron

Each Clion donate a pair of electrons to four `SP^(3)` frybrid orbitals to form tetrahedral complex.

Sice the complex undergo `Sp^(3)` hybridisation the complex is tetrahedral . It is paramagnetic complex due to the presence of two unpaired electrons in 3d-orbitals.
