In certain fully differentiated organisms new individuals can be formed from their body parts. This is called regeneration.
If the parent body is broken up into many pieces, some of these pieces grow into separate individuals.
e.g, simple animals like hydra, planaria, starfish, etc. can be cut into one or many pieces and each piece grows into complete organism. i.e., it shows regeneration.
Regeneration is carried out by specialised cells. These cells undergo repeated cell division and form large numbers of cells. From this cell- mass, different cells undergo changes to become various cell types and tissues. These changes lead to development in an organised sequence.

How, regeneration is not the same as reproduction, since most organisms would not normally depend on being cut up to be able to reproduce.
