Generation of nuclear energy hazardous.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Nuclear fission and nuclear fusion are two processes used to generate nuclear energy.
`rarr` Radioactive heavy atoms such as uranium, plutonium or thorium are used in a nuclear fission process whereas hydrogen isotopes are used in a nuclear fusion.
`rarr` There is a risk of accidental leakage of nuclear radiation.
`rarr` There a possibility of high risk of environmental contamination i.e., radioactive pollution. Radioactive waste is hazardous to human health and environment.
`rarr` Radiations which are emitted from the radioactive waste can cause mutation (Change in DNA) in living organisms.
`rarr` It creates various disorders and cancer in human beings. So, generation of nuclear energy is hazardous.
