In prokaryotes, the structural gene is polycistronic and continuous.
There is a single DNA dependent RNA polymerase which catalyses the transcription of all the three types of RNA (mRNa, rRNA and tRNA)
RNA polymerase binds to promoter and initiates the process along with certain initiation factor `(sigma)`sigma.
It uses ribonucleotides in triphosphate forms for polymerisation on DNA template following complementary rule of bases.
The enzyme facilitates unwinding of DNA helix and elongation continues.
Once the RNA polymerase reaches termination site, the mRNA is released and RNA polymerase also separates with the help of Rho factor. This is the transcriptional termination.
Translation can start much before mRNA is fully transcribed because in prokaryotes mRNA synthesised donot require any processing as well as transcription and translation occur in the same cytosol.
