From which conditioon, the normal modes for the case of small hand drums are decided ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

By stretching the circumference of small drums, their normal modes can be obtained from the condition that none of points is vibrating. The normal modes of such system are more complex to be obtained.

A wire, which passes through the hole in a small bead, is bent in the form of quarter of a circle. The wire is fixed vertically on ground as shown in the figure. The bead is released from near the top of the wire and it slides along the wire without friction. As the bead moves from A to B, the force it applies on the wire is

Water is filled in a container upto height H as shown in the figure . A small hole is board on the surface of a container at the depth h from the surface of water . What will be the distance of a point along the horizontal where the jet of the water strikes the ground ? For which value of h will this distance be maximum ? Also find this maximum distance.

Flow cytometry, illustrated in the figure, is a technique used to sort cells by type. The cells are placed in a conducting saline solution which is then forced from a nozzle. The stream breaks up into small droplets, each containing one cell. A metal collar surrounds the stream right at the point where the droplets seprate from the stream. Charging the collar polarizes the conducting liquid, causing the droplets to become charged as they break off from the steam. A leser beam probes the solution just upstream from the charging collar, looking for the presence of certain types of cells. All droplets containing one particular type of cell are given the same charge by the charging collar. Droplets with other desired types of cells receive a different charge, and droplats with no desired cell receive no charge. The charged. The charges droplets then pass between two parallel charged electrodes where they receive a horizontal force that directs force that directs them into different collection tubes, depending on air charge. Another way to sort the droplets would be to given each droplet the same charge, then vary the electric field between the deflection plates. For the apparatus as sketched, this technique will not work because

A block of mass 25 kg is raised by a 50kg man in two different ways as shown in fig. what is the action on the floor by the man in the two cases? If the floor yields to a normal force of 700N , which mode should the man adopt to lift the block without the floor yielding?

Figure shows a pulley block system in which a block A is hanging one side of pulley and an other side a small bead B of mass m is welded on pe=ulley. The moment of intertia of pulley is I and the sytem is in equilibrium position when bead is at an angle alpha from the vertical. If the system is slightly disturbed from its equlibrium position, find the time period of its oscillations.
