Three identical spherical balls A, B and...

Three identical spherical balls A, B and C are placed on a table as shown in the figure along a straight line. B and Care at rest initially.

The ball A hits B head on with a speed of `10 ms^(-1)`. Then after all collisions (assumed to be elastic) A and B are brought to rest and C takes off with a velocity of

A

`5 ms^(-1)`

B

`10 ms^(-1)`

C

`2.5 m s^(-1)`

D

`7.5 ms^(-1)`

The correct Answer is:
B

Since A, B and C are identical balls, if any of the two balls undergo elastic collision, they will exchange their velocities.

Thus, when A and B collide, A comes to rest, and B start moving ahead with `10 ms^(-1)` .
Similarly, when B collides with C , B comes to rest and C starts moving ahead with a speed of `10 ms^(-1)`.

Three identical balls, ball I, ball II and ball III are placed on a smooth floor on a straight line at the separation of 10m between balls as shown in figure. Initially balls are stationary. But I is given velocity of 10m//s towards ball II, collision between balls I and II is inelastic with coefficient of restitution 0.5 but collision between balls II and III is perfectly elastic. What is the time interval between two consecutive collisions between ball I and II?

Five balls are placed one after the other along a straight line as shown in the figure. Initially, all the balls are at rest. Then the second ball has been projected with speed v_(0) towards the third ball. Mark the correct statements, (Assume all collisions to be head-on and elastic.)

Three balls A, B and C are placed on a smooth horizontal surface. Given that m_A=m_C=4m_B . Ball B collides with ball C with an initial velocity v as shown in figure. Find the total number of collisions between the balls. All collisions are elastic.

Three blocks A, B and C each of mass m are placed on a surface as shown in the figure. Blocks B and C are initialyy at rest. Block A is moving to the right with speed v. It collides with block B and stricks to it. The A-B combination collides elastically with block C. Which of the following statement is (are) true about the velocity, of block B and C.

Two identical balls A and B are moving as shown in the fig. Ball A hits a smooth floor head on with a velocity u and at the same instant ball B strikes A head on with a horizontal velocity u. The collision between A and B is perfectly inelastic whereas the coefficient of restitution for collision between A and the floor is e = 0.5 . At what time the two balls will collide again? Assume friction to be absent everywhere.
