Why Solvay's process is not used for the manufacture of potassium carbonate.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Potassium bicarbonate is formed in the Solvay ammonia soda process. But it is more soluble in water. It can not be separated by filtration. Hence calcination of `KHCO_(3)` to give `K_(2)CO_(3)` does not arise.
