Select the appropriate options and complete the following paragraph. (spectrum, dispersion, grey, green, maximum, minimum, electromagnetic, refraction, optical, intense) Light is an ___ radiation. The process of separation of light into its component colours while passing through a medium is called as of light. The band of coloured components of a sunlight beam is called its ___ Various colours appearing in the spectrum are of the order as violet, indigo, blue, yellow, orange and red. Different colours have different wavelengths which are visible to our eyes i.e., between 400 nm and 700 nm. Red light has ____ wavelength whereas violet light has ____ wavelength.

Answer the following questions What is a spectrum ? why do we get a spectrum of seven colours when while light is dispersed by a prism ?

Do you have experience of the instances given below? : A plastic comb or ruler rubbed on dry hair attracts pieces of paper. : If we pass near a polyester curtain again and again, it gets attracted towards us. : If we rub a blanket with our hands and take it near a metal object, a spark is seen in the dark. : What is the cause of these effects?

Consider a closed loop C in a magnetic field (figure shown ). The flux passing through the loop is defined by choosing a surface whose edge coincides with the loop and using the formula phi = B_1. dA_1 + B_2. dA_2 +....... . Now if we choose two different surfaces S_1 and S_2 having C as their edge, would we get the same answer for flux? Justify your answer.

Select the appropriate option and complete the following paragraph. (cornea, faint, conical, rod, image, coloured, retina, colours, myopic, presbyopic, colour blind) The ____ in our eyes consists of many light sensitive cells. These cells are shaped like a rod and like a cone. The ____ shaped cells give information about the intensity of light to the brain. The ____ cells give information about the colour of the object to the brain. Brain processes all the information received and we see the actual image of the object. Rod shaped cells respond to ___ light also but conical cells do not. Thus we perceive ____ only in bright light. Some people cannot recognize few colours or cannot distinguish between different colours. These persons are said to be _____. Apart from not being able to distinguish between different colours, their eye sight is normal.

A beam of light AO is incident on a glass slab (mu=1.54) in a direction as shown in figure. The reflected ray OB is passed throught a Nicol prism. On viewinf through a Nicole prism, we find rotating the prism that (tan^(-1)1.54=57^(@))

A ray of light passes through four transparent media with refractive indices mu_1 , mu_2 , mu_3 and mu_4 as shown in the figure. The surfaces of all media are parallel. If the emergent ray CD is parallel to the incident ray AB, we must have
