Define the power of lens. The power of lens is +2.0 D.
(i) Find the focal of lens in m.
(ii) Name the kind of this lens. Explain with the help of figure whether this lens would converge or divere a beam of lens.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

(i) The ability of a lens to converge/ diverge a beam of light rays is expressed in terms of its power (P), It is the inverse of focal length f (in meters).
Hence power of a lens is given by the relation
`P=1/(f("in meters"))`
`F=1/P=+1//2=+0.5m`
(ii) Convex lens
