A concave lens made of a material of refractive index `n_(1)` is kept in a medium of refractive index `n_(2)`. A parallel beam of light is incident on the lens. Trace the path of rays of light parallel to the principal axis incident on the concave lens after refraction when:
(i) `n_(1)gtn_(2)` (ii) `n_(1)=n_(2)`
Give reason for each.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`n_(1)gtn_(2)` lens behave as diverging lens

`n_(1)=n_(2)` no refraction occurs.
