Carbonate and suphide ores are usualy converted into oxides during the process of extraction

The reduction of metal oxides to metal is easier than the reduction of metal sulphides or metal carbonates. Hence, the metal sulphides or metal carbonates are converted to metal oxides in the process of extraction of metal from them.
