Explain glycolysis in detail.

i. Glycolysis is the first step of aerobic `//` anaerobic respiration and occurs in the cytoplasm of the cell.
ii. In this process, a molecule of glucose is oxidized in a stepwise manner to form two molecules each of pyruvic acid, ATP, `NADH_(2)` and water.
iii. pyruvic acid formed during this process is converted into acetyl-coenzyme A with the release of two molecules each of `NADH_(2)` and `CO_(2)`. This acetyle-coenzyme A then enters the Krebs cycle.
