Text Solution

Verified by Experts

i. Tricarboxylic acid cycle or Krebs cycle is the second step of aerobic respiration.
ii. It occurs in the mitochondria.
iii. Two molecules of acetyl Co-A produced from pyruvic acid ( formed by glycolysis), enter the mitochondria.
iv. The acetyl group of this molecule is completely oxidized through the cyclic process.
v. The products formed during the tricarboxylic acid cycle are `CO_(2), CoA,ATP,NADH_(2)` and `FADH_(2)`.
vi. Net reaction of Krebs cycle `:`
Acetyl-CoA+`2NAD^(+)+FAD + GDP +Pi+3H_(2)O rarr2CO_(2)+ CoA^(**)+3(NADH+H^(+))+FADH_(2)+GTP`
