Solar photovoltaic cells which directly convert solar radiation energy into electrical energy of mw capacity are connected in required series and parallel combinations to form a solar panel.
(ii) Many solar panels are connected in series to form a solar string and many such strings are further connected in parallel to form a solar array.
(iii) Many solar arrays together generate power of MW capacity which is in the form D.C.
(iv) The D.C power generated is converted to A.C. power using an inverter.
(v) A transformer is used to transform the voltage and current levels of the generated power and is then fed into the electricity distribution network.
