a. Infection of tapeworm in man :
Animals become infected with tapeworms while grazing in pastures or drinking contaminated water.
If human beings , consume raw or undercooked meat of such animals (e.g. beef, pork), they get infected.
Humans can also become infected if they consume food or water contaminated with the faeces of an infected person.
Preventive measures:
Maintain personal hygiene, careful washing of fruits and vegetables , adequate cooking of beef , pork, etc.
b. Infection of liver fluke in grazing animals lie goat and sheep :
Liver flukes are found i aquatic environments such as slow moving streams, irrigation channels, etc. Where they can lay their eggs. These eggs on hatching develop into larve which live in an intermediate host (usually snails) . The larve develop into cercaria in te body of snails which then swim in water until they find grassy vegetation and then form cyst-like metacercaria. When such grass is eaten by grazing animals like goat and sheep , the cyst enters their intestine and then migrates into the liver and further develops and matures into an adult in their bile duct.
Preventive measures :
Management techniques such as fencing the areas that harbour the snails, draining wet areas of pasture or grazing in drier pastures, avoiding snail infected areas for grazing animals, etc.

Answer the following Read the paragraph and answer the questions given below it. Food poisoning can occur due to contamination of food by various bacteria and fungi.Clostridia are bacteria responsible for spoilage of cooked food. There are around 100 species of this bacteria viz. Clostridium tetani, Clostridium botulinum, etc. that are present either free living in soil or the alimentary canal of humans and other animals. The bacteria are rod- shaped and produce pottle-shaped endospores in adverse environmental conditions. These microbes cannot withstand normal oxygen levels in air and grow under anaerobic conditions. How does Clostridium survive even under adverse conditions?

Paragraph based Questions : Read the paragraph and answer the, questions given below: Sulphuric acid is present in the acid rain and materials coming out of mines . You know that erosion of metals present in statues, bridges and buildings occurs due to it. Sulphuric acid is a source of energy for some species of bacteria like Acidophilum spp. and Acidobacillus ferrooxidans Hence. these bacteria can control the soil pollution occurring due to acid rain water soluble salts of uranium are present in the wastes produced during electroplating and in effluent released in the environment from the atomic energy Plant. Geobacter convert these salts of yranium into insoluble salts and thereby prevent those salts from mixing with groundwater sources. What causes metal erosion in statues pridges and buildings?
