i. Leeches are used in blood purification therapy to treat many diseases.
ii. Thy are used in treatment of osteorthritis, hemorrhoids , skin diseases, etc.
iii. They suck impure blood from the affected site of the patient's body.
iv. The anticoagulant-hirudin present in saliva of leech , inhibits the coagulation of blood and makes blood thinner. This allows free blood to flow through the vessels and dissolve the clots found in vessels.
