Explain biofuel production with the help of a diagram

Text Solution

i. Plants produce biaomass by the process of photosynthesis in which solar energy is used to prepare carbohydrates and oxygen. Thus, biomass contains stored energy from the sun.
ii. Biomass includes forest residues, crop residues, etc.
iii. For production of biofuel, biomass is harvested and transported for threshing. The residue left after theshing contains cellulose, which is later on converted to glocose.
iv. The gluclse is then converted to liquid fuel through fermentation, which is used for different purposes.
v. Burning of biofuel releases `CO_(2).` which is again absorbed by plants for photosynthesis .
