a. A green corridor refers to the special road-route that enables the harvested organs to reach the destined hospital for transplantation in minimum time. 1n this, the street signals are manually operated in order to avoid red signals and traffic.
b. For e.g. 1n one case, a 45-year-old woman (victim of a railway accident) was declared brain dead and her family agreed to donate her kidneys, liver and heart. One of her kidneys was transplanted to a patient in MGM Hospital (V ashi) and the other kidney was sent to a patient in Jaslok hospital (Peddar Road). Also, her liver was sent to a patient in Wockhardt Hospital, whereas, her heart was sent to Fortis hospital for a patient on top of the priority list. The transport of these organs took place via. a green corridor" covering 18 km in less than 16 minutes.
