When a solute dissolves in a solvent, a new substance is not fom1ed. When a solute dissolves in a solvent, new substance is not fomed.
Note: Sometimes, when a substance is dissolved in a solvent, a chemical reaction may occur. For example, when `CO_2` is dissolved in water, carbonic acid `(H_2CO_3)` is formed. Here, `CO_2` reacts with water.
