Explain the term with example : Alkane

Explanation

Saturated hydrocarbons containing only carbon-carbon single bonds are called alkanes.
E.g. In methane `(CH_(4))`, ethane `(C_(2)H_(6))`. Etc., all the valencies of all the atoms are satisfied by the single bonds. Hence, they are called alkanes.
