If there is no capillary action, kerosene lamps and cigarette lighters cannot work since the liquid will not climb up along the wick. There would be no plants on the earth . Since capillarity is to a large extent responsible for raising water from soil upto green leaves, capillary action takes place in the absorption of liquids by blotting paper and in the use of towel in drying our hands, in both the cases liquid rises through narrow channel between fibers.
