If organic substance is dissolved in water than surface tension of water decreases because intermolecular forces decreases e.g. soap, phenol, Toothpaste etc.
If inorganic substance is dissolved in water then surface tension of water increases because intermolecular forces increases as inorganic substance forms ions when it is dissloved.
