Does the phenomem of in terference obey the law of conservation of energy ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Yes, at the point of destructive interference the intensity of light is zero. But, this energy is redisturbed to mthe bright fridge region. The total intensity from two slits is `a^2a^2=2a^2`. Where a is the amplitude of the wave for each slit. The intensity of bright point is zero and hence average intensity is ` 0+4a^2/2=2a^2`. Thus ,law of conservation of energy is obeyed.
