A bus starting from rest moves with a uniform acceleration of `0.1 ms ^(-2)` for 2 minutes. Find (a) the speed acquiresd (b) the distance travelled.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, `u =0, a = 0.1 ms ^(-2),`
t = 2 minute = 120 second `v = ? , s= ?`
`(a) u = u + at`
`= 0 + 0.1 xx 120`
`= 12ms ^(-1)`
`(b) s = ut + (1)/(2) at ^(2)`
`= 0 xx 120 + (1)/(2) xx 0.1 xx (120) ^(2)`
`= (1)/(2) xx 0.1 xx 120 xx 120`
`= 720 m`
(a) Speed acquired is `12 ms ^(-1)`
(b) The distance travelled is 720 m.
