How do you distinguish between methyl alcohol and ethyl alcohol ?

Using iodine and alkali, methyl alcohol and ethyl alcohol can be distinguished. Only ethyl alcohol gives yellow precipitate of iodoform. Methyl alcohol does not form iodoform.
