Can two similarly charged bodies attract each other?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Yes, when the charge on one body `(q_1)` is much greater than that on the other `(q_2)` and they are close enough to each other so that force of attraction between `q_1` and induced charge on the other exceeds the force of repulsion between `q_1 and q_2`. However, two similar point charges can never attraction each other because no induction will take place here.

Can two isothermal curves intersect each other?

Assertion : When two charged spheres are connected to each other by a thin conducting wire, charge flow bigger sphere to smaller sphere, if initial charges on them are same. Reason : Electrostatic potential energy will be lost in redistribution of charges.
