Find the magnetic field `B` at the point `P` in figure

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Magnetic field at `P` due `SM` and `OQ` is zero. Due to `QR` and `RS` are equal and outwards. Due to `MN` and `NO` are equal and inwards.

Due to `QR` and RS,
`B_1=2[mu_0/(4pi) I/(2a)(sin0^@+sin45^@)]`
`=(mu_0I)/(4sqrt2pi)`` [outwards]`
Due to `MN` and `NO`
`B_2=2[mu0/(4pi I/a (sin0^@+sin45^@))]`
`=(mu_0I)/(2sqrt2pia)` [inwards]`
`:. B_(net)=B_2-B_1=(mu_0I)/(4sqrtpia) [inwards]`
