The stress-strain graph for a metallic w...

The stress-strain graph for a metallic wire is shown at two different temperature, `T_(1)` and `T_(2)` which temperature is high `T_(1)` or `T_(2)` ?

Text Solution

The slope of stree-strain curve with strain at X-axis gives the value of Young's modulus

In the above graph strain is taken along y-axis . Therefore, the slope of graph at temperature `T_(1)` is less than the slope of graph at temperature `T_(2)`
Now as we know with increase in temperature the value of modulus of elasticity decreases. Therefore temperature `T_(1)` is less than temperature `T_(2)`
