The conversion of molecules of X to Y fo...

The conversion of molecules of X to Y follows second order kinetics. If concentration of X is increases to three how will it affect the rate of formation of Y?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Rate` (r_1)=K[X]^2`
When the concentration X is increases 3 times, the new rate `(r_2)`is `r_2`=`k[3K]^2=9k[X]^2`
The rate of the reaction increases 9 times .
`therefore`The rate of formation of Y increases 9 times.
