Separation and isolation of DNA fragments
The cutting of DNA by restriction endonucleases results in the fragments of DNA by a technique of gel electrophoresis.
Negatively charged DNA fragments can be separated by forcing them to move towards the anode under an electric field in matrix. (agarose gel)
DNA fragments separate according to their size through sieving effect of gel hence smaller fragments move farther.
