If two circular discs of same weight an...

If two circular discs of same weight and thickness are made from metals having different densities, which disc will have large MI about its central axis?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The MI of circular disc I = `1/2MR^2`, and its mass M=`piR^2 times dx times rho`, where R=radius, dx= thickness and `rho` = density.
As M and dx are same , disc with smaller density will have larger R and hence larger MI.
