Explain why at high altitude, water boils below 100?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The boiling point of substance depends upon the pressure it is 100°C under normal pressure at the sea level .AT higher altitudes the pressure is much less than that the at sea levelunder normal pressure at the sea level .So the boiling point of water decreases.Hence,it boils below 100°C.
