The ratio of length to width of a rectangular sheet of paper is 5:3. If the width of the sheet is 18 cm, find its length.

Let the length of sheet of paper be x cm. Then the ratio of length of width = x : 18
Thus x : 18 = 5 : 3 `implies x xx 3 = 18 xx 5 implies x = 30`
Hence the length of paper = 30 cm
