Why is it that the line of treatment for a genetic disease is different from infectious diseases?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Infectious disease is caused by the entry of some organism in the body. Its treatment focusses on the destruction of infectious organism. A genetic disease is inherent and is produced either by (i) the improper functioning of same gene which results in the formation of nonfunctional enzyme or (ii) defective gene which produces wrong protein. Therefore, replacement or regular supply of functional protein is the only method for treating genetic disease.
