Calculate the pressure exerted by one gram of helium present in a 5 L vessel at room temperature?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The ideal gas equation is given as, PV=nRT
Number of moles `= n =1/4 =0.25`
R = Universal gas constant = 0.0821 L atm `K^(-1) mol^(-1) `
V = Volume = 5 lit
Pressure exerted by helium gas =
` P=(nRT )/(V ) = ( 0.25 xx 0.0821 xx 298 )/( 5 ) `
=1.224 atm = 930 torr
