400cc of N2 at 600mm and 500cc of O2 at ...

400cc of `N_2` at 600mm and 500cc of `O_2` at 300mm are quantitatively transferred in to an empty vessel of X 2 L capacity. Calculate the pressure of the mixture and partial pressures.

Pressure of the final mixture =P
` = (P_1 V_1 +P_2 V_2)/( V) = (( 400 xx 600 ) + ( 500 xx 300 )) /( 2000 ) = 195 mm`
Partial pressure of nitrogen =` (P_1 V_1 ) /(V ) = ( 400 x600 )/( 2000 ) ` = 120 mm
Partial pressure of oxygen=`(P_2 V_2)/(V ) = ( 500 xx 300 )/(2000 ) = 75 mm`
