Does the number of moles of reaction products increase, decrease or remain same when each of the following equilibrium is subjected to a deecrease in pressure by increasing the volume?
(a) `PCl_(5)(g) hArr PCl_(3)(g) + Cl_(2)(g)`
(b) `CaO(s) + CO_(2)(g) hArr CaCO_(3)(s)`
(c ) `3Fe (s) + 4H_(2)O(g) hArr Fe_(3)O_(4) (s) + 4H_(2)(g)`

Text Solution

According to Le-Chatelier.s principle
(a) no. of moles of products will increase on decreasing pressure as the forward reaction will be favoured.
(b) no. of moles of products will decrease as the backward reaction will be favoured.
(c) no. of moles of product will remain the same as the number of moles of gaseous substances is the same on both the sides.
