`CH_3- underset(CH_2 - overset(9)CH_3)underset(8|)overset(7)(CH ) - overset(6)(CH )=overset(5)CH- underset(C_2 H_5)underset(|)overset(CH_3) overset(|4)C-overset(NO_2) overset(3|)(CH ) - overset(2)(CH_2)- overset(O)overset(||)(""^1 C )-Cl`
(i) The principal groups is `- overset(O ) overset(।। )C-`as it ranks higher than `-NO_2` group in the seniority table.
(ii) The numbering should be done from the right.
(iii) The parent hydrocarbon is nonane and the word root is non.
(iv) Adding suffixes -ene (corresponding to double bond at position 5), -oyl chloride (corresponding to - COCl at position 1) and prefix nitro (corresponding to -NO2 at position 3) to the word root non, we get 3-nitronon-5-en-1-oylchloride.
(v) The compound contains one ethyl group at position 4 and two methyl groups at positions 4 and 7. Therefore, the complete IUPAC name of the compound is 4-ethyl-4,7-dimethyl-3-nitronon-5-en-1-oyl chloride.
