What is the basic difference in approach between the Mendeleev’s Periodic Law and the Modern Periodic Law?

Mendeleev.s periodic law was based on atomic weights of the elements, whereas modern periodic law is based on the atomic numbers of elements. Thus, the basic difference in the approach is of the basis od classification.
