How is the vapour pressure of a solvent ...

How is the vapour pressure of a solvent afffected when anon volatile solute is dissolved in it?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The vapour presure of the solvent decreases on adding a non-volatile solute to it. It is because some of the solvent molecule at the surface of the solvent are replaced by non volatile solute particles.
