What will be the vapour pressure of a solution containing 5 moles of sucrose `(C_(12)H_(22)O_(11))` in 1 kg of water, if the vapour pressure of pure water is `4*57` mm of Hg ? `[C = 12, H=1,0 = 16]`

According to Raoult.s law, `(p^(@)-p)/(p^(@))=(n_(2))/(n_(1)+n_(2)) " "...(i)`
Here, `n_(1)=(1000)/(18)=55.5, n_(2)=5`
`p^(@)=4.57` mm of Hg
Substituting the values in equation (i)
`(4.57-p)/(4.57)=(5)/(55.5+5)=(5)/(60.5)=0.0825`
or `4.57-p=4.57 xx0.0825=0.377`
or `p=4.57 -0.377=4.193` mm Hg
