State any two Bohr.s postulates and write the energy value of the ground state of the hydrogen atom.

Text Solution

Two Bohr.s postulates are: (i) Electrons can revolve only in those orbits in which their angular momentum is an integral multiple of `h//2pi`, where h is Plank.s universal constant.
(ii) While revolving in stable orbits, the electrons do not radiate energy in spite of their acceleration towards the centre of the orbit. Hence, the atom remains stable and is said to exist in a stationary state.
