Give reasons why?
Liquid ammonia is used as refrigerant in ice plants.

Liquid ammonia is used as a refrigerant in ice plants as it has high latent heat of vaporization equal to 5700 cal/mole. When liquid ammonia evaporates, it takes a large amount of heat from surroundings, resulting in the fall in the temperature.
