Find the total percentage of magnesium in magnesium nitrate crystals `[Mg(NO_(3))_(2).6H_(2)O]`
[Mg=24, N=14, O=16,H-1]

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Molecular mass of `Mg(NO_3)_2 . 6H_2 O`
`24 xx 1 + 14 xx 2 + 6 xx 16 + 6 xx 18`
`= 24 + 28 + 96 + 108 = 256 g.`
Percentage of magnesium `=(24)/(256) xx100 = 9.375 %`
