Text Solution

(i) Quantum yield : Number of `O_(2)` molecules released or fixation of one molecule of `CO_(2)` per quantum or photon of light absorbed is known as quantum yield. About 0.06 moles `CO_(2)` are fixed per mole of quanta under favourable conditions (and normal (ambient) `CO_(2)` concentration).
(ii) R.Q. : The ratio of volume of `CO_(2)` produced to the volume of `O_(2)` absorbed in respiration over a period of time is known as R.Q. (Respiratiory Quotient).
R.Q. `= ("Volume of CO"_(2) "evolved")/("Volume of O"_(2) "absorbed")`
Its value for protein is less than unity.
