What is the function of Cerebrospinal fluid ?

Cerebrospinal fluid is a watery fluid found within the space of the covering membrane and also in ventricles of brain and central canal of spinal cord. It acts like a cushion to protect the brain from mechanical shocks. It also acts as a medium for the exchange of food materials, waste products and respiratory gases with neurons.
